Position Summary
The Technical Training Manager is responsible for managing and scaling HaloMD's technical training function across the organization's technology ecosystem. This role combines strong technical fluency with training strategy, content development, facilitation skills, and team management to ensure employees rapidly build proficiency across systems, tools and environments.
This individual serves as both a technical translator and strategic partner, bridging IT, engineering, and business teams while managing the end-to-end technical training lifecycle - including onboarding, upskilling, documentation and digital learning. The role ensures employees understand not only how to use tools, but how systems connect and operate to drive efficiency and performance.
Reporting into Learning & Development, the Technical Training Manager leads technical training strategy and execution, provides direct management to the eLearning Instructional Designer and partners closely with the LMS administrator (dotted-line) to deliver scalable, data-driven learning solutions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in software development, IT or data environments, along with experience managing training programs and influencing technical stakeholders. This role balances strategic direction with hands-on involvement to ensure alignment between evolving technology and workforce capability.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Training Strategy & Function Management
- Define and manage a technical training strategy aligned with IT, engineering, and business priorities.
- Establish and maintain standards, frameworks, and best practices for technical training, documentation,
- and enablement.
- Serve as the primary L&D point of contact for IT, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and
- employee skill development.
- Manage the development of a technical skills roadmap, supporting onboarding, upskilling, and role
- based proficiency.
- Identify and implement opportunities for scalable learning solutions, including self-service resources
- and AI-supported tools
People Management & Team Oversight
- Provide direct management and performance oversight for the eLearning Instructional Designer
- Provide direction, prioritization, and coordination for the LMS Administrator (dotted-line relationship)
- Manage team workload, project prioritization, and delivery timelines across technical training initiatives
- Coach and support team members in instructional design, technical content development, and stakeholder
- collaboration.
- Contribute to building team capability and bench strength within the technical training function
Technical Enablement & IT Partnership
- Partner with IT, engineering, and system owners to maintain a strong understanding of the organization's
- technology ecosystem
- Act as a technical translator, converting system functionality, workflows, and integrations into practical
- learning experiences
- Maintain working capability navigating systems such as:
- Data platforms (e.g., Snowflake)
- Documentation tools (e.g., Confluence)
- AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT)
- Cross-platform environments (Mac/PC)
- Ensure training content reflects real-world workflows, dependencies, and access models
- Support adoption of new systems, tools, and integrations through structured training approaches
Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Manage and deliver technical onboarding programs, including system setup, environment access, and
- workflow training
- Facilitate hands-on technical training sessions for employees across varying skill levels
- Provide facilitation for complex or high-impact training initiatives
- Support learners with real-time system navigation and problem-solving during training
- Ensure consistent delivery quality and effective learning experiences across formats
Content & Learning Experience Development Oversight
- Ensure content is accurate, structured, and aligned with system updates
- Partner with Instructional Designer to develop engaging and scalable digital learning experiences
- Manage Confluence-based documentation, ensuring usability, organization, and governance standards
- Establish and maintain content lifecycle and version control practices
Program Management & Training Operations
- Manage planning and execution of technical training programs, including scheduling, logistics, and resource
coordination
- Partner with stakeholders to assess technical training needs and skill gaps
- Collaborate with Training Coordinator to monitor:
- Training participation
- Effectiveness and feedback
- Adoption and performance impact
- Use data and insights to refine programs and improve outcomes
- Support development of structured onboarding pathways and role-based learning journeys
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technical Communication, Education, Instructional Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience) is required
- 5+ years of experience in technical training, IT support, technical enablement, or similar role
- Foundational experience in software development, data analysis, or technical systems environments
- Strong working knowledge of cross-platform systems (MAC and PC), system setup, access and connectivity,
- common enterprise tools and collaboration platforms
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and navigate new systems and technologies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly while maintaining
- credibility with technical audiences
- Experience facilitating training for diverse audiences, including technical users
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues in real time
- Proficiency with common business applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Confluence, and other
- collaboration tools)
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple training sessions and priorities
- Self-directed learner who stays current with technology trends and tools
- If not local, willingness to travel occasionally to Dallas, TX office for in-person training sessions
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technical Communication, Education, Instructional Design, or related field
- Prior experience as a software developer, engineer, or technical analyst
Experience working with:
- Snowflake or similar data platforms
- Confluence or other documentation/knowledge management tools
- AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with SQL, data workflows, or system integrations
- Background in technical writing, learning & development, or enablement
- Experience supporting onboarding or training for technical teams
- IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, or similar)
- Experience in healthcare, SaaS, or enterprise technology environments
- Experience creating video tutorials using screen recording software
- Strong content development skills with portfolio of training materials
- Experience in healthcare, technology, or corporate environments
- Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project management platforms
